Students in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir have formally launched a struggle against the deteriorating state of education, the escalating crisis, and the various issues confronting the student body. Reacting strongly to the government’s apathy, students from the University of Kotli have issued an ultimatum to the administration, demanding the acceptance of their grievances.
Student representatives have clearly declared that if their legitimate academic and administrative demands are not met immediately, the entire student body—clad in their school and college uniforms—will undertake a historic protest long march from Mirpur to Muzaffarabad.
This announcement by the students regarding the lack of facilities in educational institutions and government neglect has caused a stir within the region’s political and administrative circles, while other organizations associated with the education sector have also signaled their support for this move.
