A tight contest is expected in Israel’s upcoming elections on October 27. The US President has come forward in support of Netanyahu.
Ahead of Israel’s parliamentary elections, US President Donald Trump has once again expressed his support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging Israeli voters to cast their ballots for him so that “the work we started together can be completed.”
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump reshared a statement he made last week in support of Netanyahu. He noted that he and the Israeli Prime Minister have enjoyed an excellent relationship and have achieved joint successes in various military operations.
Describing a US operation against Venezuela as one of the most successful military operations in history, Trump claimed that, previously, the US and Israel had prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons through “Operation Midnight Hammer.”
Trump further claimed that, following “Operation Epic Fury,” Iran is left with neither an effective navy nor an air force, while its military and economy are both facing severe difficulties.
He also alleged that the inflation rate in Iran has reached 301 percent, access to oil has been hampered by a naval blockade, and two tiers of Iran’s military and civilian leadership have been eliminated. In his message, Trump described Netanyahu as an “extraordinary Prime Minister, well-suited for wartime conditions,” and noted that in the past, Iran and its allies used to refer to “Israel as the ‘Little Satan’ and the United States as the ‘Great Satan’.”
Trump claimed that slogans such as “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” are no longer heard, and will not be heard in the future either.
Concluding his message, the U.S. President addressed Israeli voters, saying: “Elect Netanyahu as Prime Minister. We must complete the work we started together.”
This marks the second time in a week that Trump has publicly expressed his support for Netanyahu, ahead of the parliamentary elections in Israel scheduled for October 27.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that 90 percent of the work required to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program has been completed, with only 10 percent remaining.
In an interview with Channel 14 on Sunday—two days before the Israeli parliamentary elections—Netanyahu stated that his electoral rivals lack the capability to complete this mission.
