Electric scooters trend in Muzaffarabad, but charging facilities missing

In Pakistan-administered Kashmir, citizens are increasingly attracted to electric scooters in view of environmental improvements and rising fuel prices.

The capital Muzaffarabad is no exception to this changing trend, but the lack of basic facilities here has become a major obstacle in the way of this new transport model.

People using electric bikes and scooters in Muzaffarabad are currently forced to charge their vehicles at home.

Factors such as load shedding, voltage problems and limited space in most areas make this process more difficult.

Citizens say that it becomes difficult to cover long distances. There is a risk of battery running out in emergencies. Charging in apartments or rented houses becomes more complicated.

While the charging network for electric vehicles is expanding rapidly in major cities around the world, there is not a single regular public charging station in a major city like Muzaffarabad.

According to experts, the development of electric transport remains limited without charging infrastructure.
