Use of force against peaceful activists is state brutality, Habibur Rehman

Jammu Kashmir People’s National Party (JKPNP) strongly condemns the killing and injury of peaceful civil rights activists in the recent attack by Pakistani forces. We express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to all the injured.

JKPNP central leader Habib Rehman said that the use of force against peaceful activists is a grave violation of fundamental human rights and democratic principles. He also strongly condemned the ban imposed on the Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee and other action committees operating in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), terming the move as an attempt to suppress dissent and silence legitimate public demands.

Habib Rehman said that these actions reflect the increasing brutality of the occupying authorities and show an alarming disregard for civil liberties, freedom of expression and the right to peaceful political activities.

He urged the people of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir — on both sides of the Line of Control, whether under Pakistani or Indian administration — to unite and raise their voices against oppression, injustice and denial of democratic rights.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir must stand together in defence of human dignity, civil liberties and the right to self-determination of their future,” he said. Silence in the face of oppression only emboldens those who seek to rule through fear and force.”

The Jammu and Kashmir People’s National Party reiterates its commitment to a peaceful struggle for justice, human rights and the democratic aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
