Former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ election convoy was stopped by locals in the Tain area of Poonch division of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
According to local sources, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was traveling for an election campaign when protesters stopped his convoy at Tain. During this, the situation became tense and a firing incident took place.
According to initial reports, one of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ security guards was killed in the firing.
Some sources claim that the guard came under fire from his own colleagues, however, there has been no official confirmation or investigation details from the authorities in this regard.
Participants in the protest and local representatives said that the people have been on the streets for the past 38 days to resolve their demands and problems, but sufficient attention has not been paid to public problems. They maintained that the political leadership will not be allowed to run election campaigns until there is progress on the demands of the people.
