The students maintain that they did not gather for any sudden or unnecessary purpose but were raising their voice in favor of their teacher Dr. Jadoon Khan.
An unpleasant incident has taken place during a student protest on the campus of Sarhad University in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, where an army officer dressed in military uniform opened fire.
According to the students, the incident began when the university students were protesting against the alleged conflict and inappropriate behavior of the HR manager with their department head Dr. Jadoon Khan.
The students maintain that they did not gather for any sudden or unnecessary purpose but were raising their voice in favor of their teacher Dr. Jadoon Khan.
The students claimed that the HR manager, who is a woman, abused Dr. Jadoon, pushed her and threatened to file a false case against her. In response to this situation, students came out to protest on the campus with slogans of “Justice for Sir” and placards.
According to the students, during the protest, the woman, who is also the wife of an army officer, came there and had a heated exchange with the students. The students claim that the woman also slapped some students and then called her husband.
After this, a military officer arrived there in his official uniform and attacked a student with a stick. The situation deteriorated further and on the strong reaction of the students, the officer took out his pistol and fired in the air.
Senior journalist Hamid Mir has claimed that the Pakistan Army has taken immediate notice of the incident and has taken the said officer into custody and action has been initiated against him.
An Islamabad Police officer reached the spot and assured the students of action against the officer.
Students on campus maintain that they were speaking out against the alleged false cases and threats against their teacher and have demanded a transparent investigation into the incident.
