In Rawalakot, Kashmiris Have Proven All Predictions Wrong: Senior Journalist Aizaz Syed

Senior Pakistani journalist Aizaz Syed, commenting on the ongoing public protests in Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir—led by Umar Nazir Kashmiri of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC)—has stated that the Kashmiri people, through their resolute struggle, have proven all negative projections and allegations to be false.

In a significant statement shared on social media, Aizaz Syed remarked that the Kashmiris in Azad Kashmir—who are fighting for their rights and demands—have created a new history of protest that can no longer be ignored.

According to Aizaz Syed, critics and opponents leveled various accusations against the protesters, labeling them “anti-state” and part of a “foreign agenda” in an attempt to discredit their genuine struggle; however, all such tactics proved ineffective. Neither the fabricated allegations could shake their resolve, nor could the intense pressure or strategies employed by the administration, police, and law enforcement agencies diminish the intensity of their protest.

He further noted that reports are now circulating suggesting the new government is considering certain significant constitutional changes, which could soon bring positive news for the Kashmiris currently protesting on the streets. It remains to be seen, however, how the situation unfolds in the coming days and what the ultimate outcome of this awakened public struggle will be. Concluding his statement, Aizaz Syed emphasized: “Regardless of the outcome, one thing is now absolutely certain: these Kashmiris have proven that when people stand firm for their legitimate demands, they cannot be silenced merely through accusations, state pressure, or smear tactics. They have written a new chapter in the history of protests in Azad Kashmir—one that will not be easy for history to overlook.”
