Airstrike on girls’ school in Iran, US forces suspected in investigation

The ongoing US investigation into the deadly airstrike on a girls’ school in Iran has raised the possibility that US forces may have been involved in the attack, but US officials have not yet reached a definitive conclusion.

According to Reuters, two senior US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the investigation was still ongoing and no definitive conclusion had been reached at this time. They said that initial evidence and clues indicate that US forces may have been responsible for the attack.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on Wednesday that the US military is investigating the incident. It is reported that about 165 young Iranian schoolgirls were killed in the attack, after which serious concern is being expressed globally.

US officials say it is also possible that evidence will emerge during the investigation that will exonerate the US military or prove the responsibility of another party. According to them, many important questions about the incident are yet to be answered and it is also unclear when the investigation will be completed.

On the other hand, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt responded to the issue and said that although the Department of Defense is investigating the incident, according to her, the Iranian government is targeting civilians and children, not the United States.

It should be noted that under international law, deliberately targeting schools, hospitals and other civilian facilities is considered a war crime, and such incidents require an international investigation and accountability.
