US White House press secretary Caroline Levitt has said in a media briefing that the US operation in Iran is “continuing successfully”.
During the briefing, he said that more than 11,000 targets have been hit so far, giving the US and its allies “the ability to apply more pressure” and paralyzing Iran’s offensive and defensive capabilities.
He claimed that Iran’s ballistic missile and drone attacks have been reduced by almost 90%. The US action has also ‘destroyed’ Iran’s navy, destroying more than 150 ships, including 92 percent of its largest ships.
According to White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt, President Trump has “delayed” planned strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for 10 days.
He said that this is an opportunity for the Iranian government to make a good deal with the United States.
Levitt added that the U.S. military is “ready” if Iran rejects the opportunity.
He warned that the US would pursue “every possible option” and that “the Iranian government will pay a heavy price.”
Levitt has discussed reports that Iranian officials are denying talks with the United States.
According to him, despite the Iranian government’s “public pretense” and the media’s “false reporting,” the talks between the U.S. and Iran are ongoing and progressing well.
He further said that ‘private conversations are different from what is shown in public.’
On the other hand, Ismail Baqaei, the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, posted a message on the social network and wrote that “in these thirty-one days, we have not had any conversation with the United States.”
He explained that the US has requested negotiations with the proposals, which have been conveyed to us by some mediators, including Pakistan.
This message was released after the White House spokesman and his predecessor, Donald Trump, talked about negotiations between the United States and Iran.
“Our position is very clear,” Bakai wrote. Now, in a situation where US military aggression and aggression continues with intensity, we are devoting all our efforts and energies to the defense of the Iranian nation. We have felt the previous experiences with our own flesh and blood, and we will not forget the betrayal of diplomacy that was perpetrated in less than two years.
Recall that White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said today that negotiations between the United States and Iran are progressing well and are continuing.
Levitt also said that Iranian officials with whom the U.S. is talking seem “more reasonable behind the scenes” than previous leaders.
