Five killed in violence in two districts of Balochistan

Five people were killed in violence in two districts of Pakistan-administered Balochistan. Two of them, including a political and tribal figure allegedly belonging to a state-backed armed group, were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen in Kalat, while the bodies of three others were recovered from the coastal district of Gwadar.

The three bodies recovered from Gwadar include an Iranian national.

The two deaths in Kalat took place in Nimrug.

A Kalat police official, Mohammad Amin, said that unidentified men attacked tribal figure and Balochistan Awami Party leader Sakhi Abdul Rahim Sasoli in the area.

He said that the tribal leader and one of his personal guards were killed in the attack, while the other guard was injured.

Babar Yousafzai, Assistant to the Interior Department for Media, condemned the incident and termed it a targeted killing.

Meanwhile, the tortured bodies of three people were recovered from the coastal district of Gwadar in Balochistan.

A Gwadar police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the bodies of the three people were found near the Phalerei Cross near Gwadar city.

He said that they were shot dead by unknown gunmen.

He said that the bodies of all the people were shifted to the hospital where they were identified as Ghulam Qadir, Qambar and Arshad Abu Bakr.

According to the local police, Ghulam Qadir was from Gwadar and was a university student.

Of the other two killed, Arshad Abu Bakr was an Iranian citizen and belonged to the Iranian city of Chabahar, while the third person was from the Kech district of Gwadar.

According to the police official, investigations are underway into the motives for the murders of these people. There are reports that Ghulam Qadir and Arshad Abu Bakr were missing, but the police have not yet confirmed this.
