A bench of the Supreme Court Azad Kashmir Chief Justice Saeed Akram Raja, Justice Raza Ali Khan and Justice Chaudhry Khalid Yousuf heard a petition filed by civil society to prevent substandard food items.
During the hearing, the court ordered the government to immediately establish a quality food laboratory in the Shahid Zaman Awan case and directed that the supply of adulterated and substandard food to the public will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Supreme Court said in its remarks that open milk will be allowed to be sold only to regular milk suppliers so that the quality of the milk can be ensured. The court also ordered the relevant authorities to take indiscriminate and strict action against the adulteration mafia.
The court made it clear that no compromise will be made with the health of citizens and government institutions should discharge their responsibilities effectively in this regard.
