Situation tense in Balochistan, Section 144 imposed, train services suspended, attacks on forces, 5 killed

Due to security concerns in Balochistan, Section 144 has been imposed in the capital Quetta for 30 days, while on the other hand, incidents of attacks and clashes on Pakistani forces have also been reported in different districts of Balochistan, in which several personnel have been killed and injured.

According to the Balochistan Home Department, under Section 144, pillion riding on motorcycles, gatherings of five or more people, meetings, processions, sit-ins and rallies have been prohibited. Citizens have also been prohibited from covering their faces with mufflers, masks or any other means.

Meanwhile, the Railways Department has announced the suspension of train services from Balochistan to Pakistan for two days. The Jaffar Express from Quetta to Peshawar will remain canceled on May 18 and 19, while the train from Peshawar to Quetta will be limited to Jacobabad and will be returned from there. Bolan Mail and Chaman Passenger are already suspended.

Meanwhile, reports of attacks on forces have also emerged in various districts of Balochistan. At least two personnel were killed and several others injured in a roadside IED blast in Jabshan area of ​​Zamran tehsil of Kech district.

After the blast, forces cordoned off the area.

Armed men attacked Pakistani army posts in Swarp border area of ​​Mand tehsil of Kech district, killing three personnel on the spot.

According to local sources, a subedar escaped unhurt in the attack, but further details could not be revealed.

A vehicle carrying army supplies was seized and set on fire at Dagari Cross in Dasht area of ​​Mastung district, while armed men also stopped and seized a vehicle carrying rations for an army camp in Basima area of ​​Washuk district.

Authorities have confirmed both incidents.

No organization has yet claimed responsibility for these attacks.
