Ghizer: Traders Observe Shut-Down Strike Against New Taxes and Food Act 2022

Traders in Gakuch, located in the Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan, observed a shut-down strike to protest against the Food Act 2022 and the imposition of new taxes.

The traders demanded the withdrawal of the new taxes introduced under the Food Act 2022. Due to the strike, business centers and shops in Gakuch remained closed; the traders urged the government to address their concerns rather than imposing an additional financial burden on the business community.

The traders stated that the new taxes would disrupt business activities and place a further burden on a community already facing difficulties. They called upon the government to review the Food Act 2022 and withdraw the decision regarding the new taxes.
