During a recent White House press briefing, US President Donald Trump has hinted that he may ask Arab countries to shoulder the costs of America’s war against Iran.
Trump spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt was asked during a press briefing on Monday whether Arab countries should pay the costs of the war, as America’s allies financed Washington’s intervention during the 1990s Gulf War.
“I think that’s something that the president is very interested in telling them,” Levitt said in response to the question.
“I’m not going to get ahead of him on that, but it’s certainly something that I know is on his (the US president’s) mind and I think you’ll be hearing more from him about it,” she added.
At the same time, US White House press secretary Caroline Levitt insists that peace talks are ongoing, although Iranian officials deny this.
Carolyn Levitt said in a press conference that the US has hit more than 11,000 military targets in Iran so far.
Levitt also said that “President Trump has not ruled out the possibility of sending troops to Iran, but diplomacy is still his first priority.”
