After the arrest and confession of Irfan Khan, who hails from Rawalakot district of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the family has presented its position in detail for the first time, in which they have raised serious questions about the police’s claims and the contents of the video statement.
According to Irfan’s heirs, the Mumtazabad police station reached his house during Ramadan, when Irfan had gone to Rawalakot to join the army. On being summoned by the police, his father called Irfan and he reached home in the evening, from where he was handed over to the police.
According to the family, the police assured that the matter was “not very big” and that Irfan would be returned in three days. Later, SSP Haveli also gave the same assurance, but despite continuous contacts, no trace of Irfan was found.
The heirs say that on April 16, Irfan’s confession statement suddenly came to light in the breaking news, which shook the entire family.
The family says, “Irfan never went to Pindi, nor to Neza Peer, nor did he send any live location there.”
They said, “Our son or any member of the family cannot be against the state or institutions.”
They said, “Even if a foreigner had contacted on social media, he could not have sent anything other than ordinary pictures.”
The family’s position is that “We do not agree with Irfan’s statement in any way, because he has not been to the places he is mentioning.”
Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had claimed that Irfan was associated with the Indian intelligence agency “RAW” and he had admitted his contacts in a video statement.
According to the police, Irfan admitted to contacts with people abroad. He mentioned giving information through social media and getting financial benefits.
The video said that a person named “Shahid” from Lahore contacted him on Facebook. He was given the task of making videos of villages, police stations and sensitive places.
However, the video clearly shows Irfan reading a script, which has also raised questions from local circles.
Local sources and critics say that in the past, there have been several cases in which individuals were presented with their faces hidden in press conferences, or videos were released, but later no results came out of these cases.
Kashgal News will work further on all aspects of this case through Irfan’s family, local sources and its own independent investigation so that the facts can be brought to the public with greater transparency.
The organization has clarified that the information published so far was based on the state position, and now the family’s position is also being included.
