JKPNP National Congress Demands Release of Arrested Leaders of Gilgit-Baltistan

The 6th National Congress of Jammu Kashmir People’s National Party was held in Mirpur, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, in which detailed discussions were held on political, social and organizational issues.

The meeting elected a new central cabinet for a period of two years, in which Wajid Ali Advocate was elected Chairman and Ilyas Kashmiri was elected Secretary General.

Other office bearers include Asif Kashmiri (Vice Chairman), Majid Khan (Chief Organizer), Jabbar Advocate (Finance Secretary), Kiran Kanwal (Publication Secretary), Rizwan Rashid (Study Circle Secretary), Shan Javed (Deputy Organizer) and Chavez Iqbal (Deputy General Secretary).

Aslam Watanov administered the oath to the newly elected cabinet.

Speakers spoke on various topics in the political session of the Jammu Kashmir People’s National Party National Congress.

Comrades Imdad Qazi, Wajid Ali Advocate and Zulfiqar Ahmed Advocate spoke on the end of imperialist aggression and colonialism.

Sajjad Afzal, Amjad Islam Amjad, Yasin Anjum, Rizwan Karamat and Waheed Ahmed shed light on the possibilities of a people’s movement in Pakistani occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

Professors Naghman Arif Kampalvi, Usman Kashar and Shahzad Hasrat spoke on the siege elections and electoral reforms in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Salma Hameed and Kiran Kanwal spoke on the revolutionary role of women in the backward society and their problems.

Comrade Tahir Mujtaba stressed on the revival of the students’ union and the role of student organizations.

Social leaders Humayun Pasha, Talha Advocate and newly joined member Saqib Tassaduq also spoke in the Congress.

Sajid Amin presented a revolutionary poem and Aslam Watanov presented a revolutionary anthem.

Comrade Imdad Qazi said that “American imperialism is defeated and the capitalist system is heading towards its end”.

Wajid Ali Advocate demanded that “the leaders of the People’s Action Committee Gilgit-Baltistan should be released and baseless cases should be dropped”.

The participants termed the people’s rights movement in Pakistani occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan as a means of liberating the working people from exploitation.

While discussing electoral reforms, the speakers said that “the position of the Joint People’s Action Committee regarding the 2026 elections is correct and there is more scope in the Charter of Elections”.

Criticizing the ban on the students’ union, it was said that “this ban is tantamount to taking away the right of students to struggle for their rights and through this, hereditary politics is being promoted”.

Women leaders stressed that “working women in backward societies are victims of double oppression and liberation from this oppression is possible only by building a revolutionary organization”.

At the end of the meeting, the young revolutionaries raised enthusiastic slogans.
