Muzaffarabad: Public Gathering in memory of martyrs of the People’s Rights Movement, appeal for full participation in the June 9 long march

A public meeting was held in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee in memory of the martyrs of the People’s Rights Movement, in which a large number of citizens participated.

Action Committee workers and core members from different districts of Pakistan-administered Kashmir also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, speakers made speeches regarding the long march announced on June 9 and appealed to the public for full participation.

The core members said that the political elite of the region has entered into six agreements with the Action Committee, but so far these agreements have not been implemented.

The speakers also criticized the recent talks with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam.

They said that on the one hand the government talks about talks, while on the other hand, protection is being provided to those allegedly involved in the incident.

It may be recalled that the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee has already announced a boycott of talks with Kashmir Affairs Minister Ameer Muqam.

It should be noted that three citizens from Muzaffarabad were killed in an alleged firing during a long march of JAAC on May 13, 2024.

After the incident, the Action Committee had demanded the formation of a judicial commission and a transparent investigation, but so far no significant progress has been made in this regard. Although compensation was paid to the affected families, neither the judicial commission could be formed nor the investigation into the incident could be completed.
