A flash flood caused by a cloudburst caused severe flash floods in Samoth village of Union Council Sarli Sarcha, a suburb of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, at around 10 pm on May 10, 2026, causing widespread financial losses.

According to residents of the area, the sudden flash flood severely affected standing crops, communication roads and local infrastructure. The victims say that eight houses were partially damaged, while two shops, a mosque and a local primary school were also partially affected by the flash flood.

According to locals, the district administration or the relevant authorities have not yet reached the affected area to assess the relief activities and damages, which is causing serious concern among the public. The residents of the area have demanded immediate assistance, compensation for the victims and safety measures from the government and the district administration.

Local residents said that this is not the first incident, but earlier in the year 2024, a cloudburst incident had occurred in the same village of Samoth during the monsoon, which caused massive financial loss, while in the year 2025, cloudburst incidents were reported in different areas of Union Council Sarli Sarcha.

Local citizens have expressed fear that if permanent safety measures are not taken, more loss of life and property may be faced in the future.
