The partial wheel jam shutter down strike that began on June 7 in Pakistan-administered Kashmir has entered its third day today.
The wheel jam shutter down strike is ongoing across Hoonch division including Muzaffarabad, however, on the other hand, today the Joint Public Action Committee from Mirpur division has announced the start of a long march from Bhimber. Tonight these convoys will enter Poonch division and camp in Rawalakot district, the government said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee, which was declared illegal by the government, has announced that a long march has begun from Mirpur division to Muzaffarabad on June 10.
According to a local journalist, there are thousands of people in this march, while the police have confirmed 500 people.
Talking about Muzaffarabad, all small and big commercial centers are closed, there is almost no traffic on the roads. Government vehicles that are often seen on the roads are completely missing. On the other hand, all government members are also missing from the public scene, and the Prime Minister of the region, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, had also shifted to Islamabad since the evening of June 5.
Internet service has been suspended in the region since the night of June 6 and 7.
On June 6, Shahzeb Habib, a worker of the Awami Action Committee, was allegedly killed in firing by masked men. His body, along with the bodies of six other civilians who were allegedly killed in firing by forces in Poonch division, have not been handed over to their heirs.
The Commissioner of Poonch has told the BBC that the administration itself has buried their bodies, but he expressed ignorance about where they have been buried. The funeral prayers of the police personnel killed in clashes in Rawalakot district were offered in Rawalakot yesterday, in which the GOC Murree, the Chief Secretary of Pakistan-administered Kashmir and the Inspector of Police Pakistan-administered Kashmir attended.
The Public Action Committee had announced a complete shutdown from June 9, but even before that, the political temperature in the region had risen after the alleged firing on Corps Member Jack and the death of his companion on the night of June 6, and Section 144 is currently in force in the entire Kashmir.
According to the police press releases issued two days ago, 72 members of the Public Action Committee have been detained, but they have not yet been produced in any court. The committee has also confirmed the detention of two Corps Members Raja Amjad Advocate and Anjum-uz-Zaman from Muzaffarabad Division, while Corps Member Tauseef Jaral from Mirpur Division.
