According to a spokesperson for the District Police in Bagh, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the Sahliyan Police Station (in Dhirkot Tehsil) has taken action and arrested two suspects involved in the sexual assault of a female student. A case has been registered against them, and an investigation is underway.
According to the police, on October 14, 2026, a 14-year-old girl—identified by the initial ‘H’—an eighth-grade student at a private school in Sahliyan, went missing from her home between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. Her family searched for her independently but were unable to locate her.
The following morning, as the girl’s father was on his way to the Sahliyan Police Station to file a missing person’s report, he received a phone call from the school informing him that his daughter had arrived, though she appeared to be in a distressed state. He immediately went to the school and alerted the police.
SHO of Sahliyan Police Station, Rafaqat Abbasi, arrived at the scene with his team. Upon questioning the girl, it was revealed that her cousin, Kashan Abbasi (son of Altaf Abbasi, a resident of Nakkar), had lured her to a deserted area under a false pretext and sexually assaulted her. He then abandoned her in that isolated spot and fled. When her condition improved slightly, she noticed a light in the darkness and made her way toward a livestock enclosure. There, she sought help from a man named Muzammil Hussain (son of Sarwar Abbasi), who instead threatened her, sexually assaulted her, held her captive throughout the night, and released her the following morning. Upon receiving a complaint regarding the incident, the SHO of Sahliyan Police Station took immediate action and arrested both suspects.
A spokesperson for the Bagh Police stated that, given the sensitive nature of the case, SSP Bagh Khawaja Amir-ud-Din has constituted a team—led by SDPO Dhirkot Raja Ansar Sajjad and comprising SHO Sahliyan Police Station Rafaqat Abbasi along with other investigating officers—to conduct a merit-based investigation in accordance with the law and ensure that the suspects are brought to justice.
