A people’s movement never remains stagnant. Due to the people’s inertia, it travels forward by quickly passing through evolutionary stages.
In the progress of the movement, the question of alignments is always linked to strategy. At every stage of the movement, it is very important to examine the aspect of new alignments along with other aspects in depth. If the new alignments are not examined in depth, then opportunists who were given space at the initial stage of the movement, which is necessary at this stage, will be given more space at the next stage. But giving them more space at the next stage means that opportunists will use the movement in the interests of the ruling classes.
As soon as the PPP government came to power, we had made it clear that the new alignments of the movement should be reviewed and the space of opportunists should be eliminated, since they have started using the movement in the interests of the government.
Then, instead of rejecting our position with arguments, friends propagated that a conspiracy was being hatched to break the movement. We had declared then and we still say today that unity means unity of the people. Friends wrongly believe that unity between the facilitators of the ruling class and the people is a popular or movement unity.
Today we declare again that we were drawing attention to the class alignment in advance, due to which opportunists have been given scope and opportunity due to not paying attention to it.
Today we say again that we are present in the movement, understanding the difference between anti-people and pro-people. We not only criticize the weaknesses and expediency of the pro-people element within the movement, but also give positive and strong opposition. The purpose of this criticism and opposition is to correct the directions of the movement, we will continue it.
But our clear stance on anti-people forces was and is still that they should be removed from the movement, for this, the pro-people forces present in the movement will have to take steps without falling prey to expediency. We have complete unity and inertia in this regard. Although our friends are just as incapable of analyzing the anti-people and pro-people forces as they are of understanding class alignments.
But we nevertheless believe in our friends that they will think again, analyze again, honestly examine our and our positions on the question of alignments, on the question of unity, and test them in today’s ongoing process.
We should examine the difference between the first stage of the movement and the current stage. Progressive friends should try to examine the different stages of the movement dialectically with a little more depth. What was necessary in the initial stage has become obsolete today, so the non-dialectical process of embracing it cannot be beneficial at all. Where there is a need for the new, the attempt to keep the obsolete old will weaken and not strengthen it.
In very simple words, in the first stage of the movement, it was necessary to activate the masses, for which no discipline was required, but rather it was necessary to keep the work loose and open. Then at one stage, when the masses became mobilised, it became necessary to form institutions and discipline.
When the ruling classes interfered in the people’s movement through their facilitators, class alignments became necessary. Now when the ruling classes want to divide the movement through their agents, there is a need to provide strong obstacles on the basis of people-friendly and people-anti-people.
Friends! There is a need to revisit and rethink the people’s movement to look deeply and enter it into a mature stage. We trust the people and unity on the basis of people-friendship is our principle.
